Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are starring in a film together that we will all be able to enjoy at the end of the year. It's called The Housemaid, and a new release date has been set for December 19 to get the college crowd interested while they are on their holiday breaks. Hmmm, if they want college kids to see it...will it be sexy? Will it get hype from the coveted 18-24 demographic?
Here's what we know so far:
The Housemaid is directed by Paul Feig, the director of the popular films Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor. He is really good at directing funny, smart, foxy women! It is an adaptation of the psychological thriller The Housemaid, written by novelist Frieda McFadden. This film is not to be confused with the very naked and sensual South Korean movie, The Housemaid. They are not the same movie, nor do they have the same source material. That being said, this plot sounds like it could contain nudity.
The plot follows Millie, a young woman played by Sydney Sweeney, who is trying to run away from her troubled past. She accepts a job as a live-in maid for a wealthy couple, with the rich woman of the house being played by Amanda Seyfried. This supposed dream job that was meant to be a relief for Sweeney ends up twisting into a dangerous and manipulative situation. Deadline describes the plot as being "a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal and power."
Sexy and seductive, you say? Then consider my tickets bought. I will be seated to enjoy this flick!
The studio behind the film is reportedly very happy with the cut of the flick so far. They have high hopes that word-of-mouth will spread quickly about the film once it hits theaters and that it will be a box office sensation by the end of the year.
Sydney Sweeney is really good at making sure those tickets sell! Putting her with longtime Skin favorite Amanda Seyfried feels like a no-brainer for a profitable film. It's a bonus that the plot sounds intriguing as well. I personally can't wait to see how "sexy and seductive" The Housemaid winds up being. Will there be nudity? That description sounds very promising!
