Among the most acclaimed films ever made, Henri-Georges Clouzot's The Wages of Fear (1953) tells of the desperation that drives people to do extraordinarily dangerous things. When an oil well blows up in a remote South American jungle, dynamite is required to stop the fire, but the dynamite they need is on the other side of the jungle. The oil company then hires four men, including charismatic criminal Mario (Yves Montand), to drive two trucks transporting the incredibly dangerous cargo over some of the most impassable terrain imaginable! The film has been remade several times, including as recently as a 2024 Netflix film, though William Friedkin's Sorcerer (1977) might be the best known. However, the main thing the original has over the other remakes is some skin! You might not expect a film made during the height of the Hays Code to have any nudity whatsoever, but the director's lovely wife Véra Clouzot gives us a downblouse peek at her left breast! We Wager that'll get you where you need to go!
