Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover one of the most fun subgenres in filmmaking: romantic comedy parodies.
Romantic comedies can be divisive among men, but they shouldn't be. They star sexy women! Romantic comedies have also provided some of the most famous scenes in movie history, like When Harry Met Sally. But maybe those scenes aren't bringing enough comedy for you. Maybe - especially if you hate romantic comedies - you want to laugh harder at romance in general.
If you hate romantic comedies, then you should consider these parodies that make fun of romantic comedies. Here are film that do exactly that and include skin:
Not Another Teen Movie
Raunchy movie parodies have been a staple in cinema for decades now with Scary Movie being a film to credit for its 2000s popularity. Taking the formula from Scary Movie, Not Another Teen Movie skewered popular romantic teen comedies from the 90s and early 2000s such as She's All That, Never Been Kissed, and 10 Things I Hate About You.
You don't even need to know the references to laugh (but it helps). They also skewered the nude scenes! While it was hilarious that they reversed the genders in their parody of the ice cream sundae scene from Varsity Blues, they didn't leave us hanging when it came to sexy scenes. Mia Kirshner reenacted the Cruel Intentions lesbian kiss perfectly.
Cerina Vincent played the foreign exchange student who never wore clothes because she's European! That and her character's name was Areola. Ah. tres chic.
Date Movie
Here's another spoof! 2006's Date Movie felt that the 2003 Not Another Teen Movie wasn't romantic enough. This film gives us an attack of jokes that makes fun of every date movie from the early 2000s. The film is a who's who of the era. Alyson Hannigan does a spin on Girls Gone Wild, but her chest is obscured by the title.
Other hot babes who are scantily clad include Carmen Electra and Sophie Monk who look sexier than sin in their skivvies. Electra's cleavage is particularly electric in her animal print bikini. Make a date to check her out.
They Came Together
This is the romantic comedy parody to end all romantic comedy parodies. For my money, this is the best parody film of the past twenty years. Why is that? It's perfect. It tells the story of a hilarious romance using all of the beats of a romantic comedy, but using them ridiculously.
Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd star as the couple at the movie's core. They are delighted by one another and then hate each other, and then they fall deeply in love with plenty of jokes in between - and hot women, too.
While the impressive cast has nearly every dynamite comedic actor of the 2010s in it, I love that Cobie Smulders stars as the impossibly cool and sexy girlfriend of Paul Rudd. They have a hilarious and hot sex scene that really goes for it. Cobie is using a body double to pull off these bedroom gymnastics, but damn that double looks good. You'll do double takes watching her!
Watch this scene and take the title as a challenge. You might come together with them:
