Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover one a sexy decade for horror: the 90s!
The 90s was a big decade for horror films with classics like Silence of the Lambs, The Blair Witch, and The Sixth Sense all released in that decade. But there weren't a ton of nude scenes in 90s horror.
90s horror unfortunately relied heavily on teen horror films and slasher flicks. Because of that, there wasn't a ton of nudity in the influx of PG-13 horror and 90s classics like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Indie horror made a huge impact on the 90s while old franchises had to go direct-to-video (oh, video stores, I miss you so much). Those films allowed for skintastic scenes in 90s horror!
Here are our staff picks for 90s horror films.
Frankenhooker
This low-budget B-movie has been getting more love in recent years. Modern audiences are discovering the joy of a Frankensteined sex worker. Frank Henenlotter directed this 1990 film that is super loosely based on the Mary Shelley novel that invented science fiction. A twisted young man cruises sex worker spots to find body parts so that he can stitch together a body for his girlfriend who is just a head.
After he dismembers the amount of sex workers needed to make a full-bodied woman, his creation is complete. Patty Mullen plays the monstrous maven who looks amazing even if her body parts "aren't hers". Don't worry - everything is real on Patty!
Idle Hands
Idle Hands is more of a horror-comedy, but it still counts! This 1999 comedy stars Devon Sawa as a teen who realizes that his hand has an evil will of its own. None of his friends are safe this Halloween as his hand tries to kill off other teens! Jessica Alba is hot in this movie, but the real star is Kelly Monaco and her massive mams. Yeah, I'd get handsy with those hooters!
Dracula
There have been so many adaptations of Bram Stoker's Dracula, but this 1992 film is one of the best. We all know the classic story of Count Dracula, so I don't have to rehash the plot. I'll focus on the sexiness.
Francis Ford Coppola directed this visually sumptuous Dracula story which featured hot nudity from Skin favorite Monica Bellucci. Bellucci goes boobs out for a seductive scene that would make Count Dracula himself blush as she rises from the bed sheets in between Keanu's legs. What a lucky man!
