Hollywood has lost another certified legend now that award-winning actress Maggie Smith has passed away at the age of 89.The ball-busting Brit, who had the title of Dame bestowed upon her in 1990, started off performing on England’s stages before getting her big screen break when Laurence Olivier tapped her to play Desdemona opposite him in Othello.

Her star rose higher still after winning an Oscar for playing the title role of a fiery Edinburgh schoolteacher in the 1969 drama The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Luckily for fans, Maggie didn’t waste her prime by not going nude on screen, and in 1978, she slipped out of her clothes and flashed a bit of boob at the camera in California Suite, a role which earned her another Academy Award.

Her second and only other showing of skin on screen was in the 2003 television movie My House in Umbria. Maggie’s right breast makes a surprise appearance when she opens her robe while getting handsy with Chris Cooper. She ended up winning her first Emmy for that performance, so it looks like we’re not the only ones who think Maggie and her mams deserved all the accolades!

Over her decades-long career, Maggie would play some of the most iconic characters in TV and cinema history, including - but not limited to - Granny Wendy in Hook, Mother Superior in Sister Act, The Dowager Countess Violet Crawley in Downtown Abbey, and of course, Professor Minvera McGonagall in the Harry Potter franchise. She left an indelible mark on audiences spanning generations and we only wish we’d had more time with this daring Dame.
