Mr. Skin’s audience doesn’t need to be reminded that A Midsummer Night's Dream (1968) is another production of William Shakespeare’s tale of young lovers being toyed with by naughty fairies. This one’s a pretty amazing adaptation, as innovative director Peter Hall fashions his staging after Richard Lester’s zany Beatles comedies. Thankfully the ’60s influence also goes to the costuming, as young Helen Mirren and Diana Rigg parade about in sexy miniskirts and go-go boots. Things really get swinging with Titania, played by Judi Dench, though. The future Dame is dolled up in a daring fairy costume that fairly leaves her looking nude, though some cleverly placed pasties cover up her nipples. Still, it's easily the sexiest role of Judi's career!
